Why Brush Hogging?
-
Brush hogging, or bush hogging as it is often called, is the act of mowing with a rotary style cutter that is usually pulled behind a tractor. One very good reason why bush hogging is a good business to start: Large jobs equal large paychecks! When I first got started, I found a land maintenance company and called them. I then placed a bid on one of their jobs that was up for contract renewal. I must say my first job was scary as I thought I had bit off way more than I could chew...and this size job is not typical, I got lucky as I already knew a thing or two about brush hogging from some family members. After winning the contract for this one job which was almost 200 acres (which paid over $5000), I used $440 to rent a tractor and bush hog the first two days, then $2000 for a down payment on my own new tractor on day three, $200 to buy my first bush hog / rotary cutter (needed work),
